(From Leslee: This is another instance where I began answering an email question, and eventually realized that message I was receiving might help some other people, too.)
About the pendulum…
Yes, it is a form of dowsing (if I understand you correctly, to mean using it to tune into energy in the area)… I think others tune into themselves or surrounding/”spirit” energy, and that can be kind of random.
I was first taught to attune to my Highest Guides (which I refer to as Enlightened Beings, or Buddhas) using this pendulum process. One of the things Adrial wants me to share is to describe this method so others can learn it, too.
Looks like videos and posts will be arising for that.
Since we already know you’re transpathic/telepathic/empathic, I’m guessing this will come easily for you, and it may also come about differently than I describe it below. Trust, based in the following general principles.
If you want to try it out, I suggest getting in tune with one of your higher guides first, and asking them to show you how it best works.
Here’s what is meant by “higher guide”: it could be your own higher self, or a “being” with whom you have a strong karmic and spiritual connection. It could be Jesus, a Buddha, a Saint, Gaia, etc… Don’t worry if you don’t have a name for your guide; names are quite 3D, after all… 😉
And don’t worry if you don’t FEEL this connection at first. If you’re becoming accustomed to meditating, that sensitivity will certainly come with time and more meditation.
Just ask that you receive information only from beings of the Light, who abide in the 9th or higher realms, and whose only intentions with you are to provide guidance for you to ascend completely, as quickly as possible (or as gently as possible, depending on your level of comfort with that concept!).
This request reminds us of our own sincerity, and it also establishes a level of grounding and protection that will ensure that we only get info that will actually help us along our path.
You can use anything that dangles freely as a pendulum… A necklace, a washer on a string, or a ready-made pendulum… Here’s a video I made about finding or making a pendulum… While you’re first attuning, it will probably give you results most quickly if you can use a metallic chain and a bob that’s rather light.
Try it after meditating for few moments to get centered and grounded.
Then, if you’re right-handed, hold it in your left hand, and let it settle or stop it from swinging.
Direct your vision towards the tip of the pendulum (our eyes really do send energy!), but focus very softly, as if trying to see an aura.
Clear your mind in a relaxed way, as if “zoning out”, until you feel relaxed and free from expectations. This is key.
If you have trouble with expectations, then close your eyes at first, so you can’t see how the pendulum is moving.
Now ask your Guide(s) to please show you a “yes”. Note (by looking) how the pendulum swings. That will always mean “yes” for you, or affirm that you are understanding the message correctly.
Next, ask your Guide(s) to please show you a “No”. Ditto. That will always mean “no” for you, or alert that you are mis-understanding the message.
Sometimes we get a “no” if we ask a question more than once. The original answer still holds… This “no” is our Guide shaking a finger at us admonishingly for not trusting. If we don’t trust consistently, this method may cause all kinds of problems. It’s sort of an all-or-nothing commitment, on our part, if we want to access our Guides this way.
Finally, ask your Guide(s) to please show you “confusion”. For me, when I get this, the pendulum swings in a circle, sometimes quite wildly. It’s my Guides’ way of saying, “Heeellllooooo….”, meaning that I’m either completely off track, or They want to change the subject. Sometimes it can mean to look up from the pendulum and pay attention to what’s going on in the environment.
About a year ago I reached the point where my pendulum work was stable enough that I could use one while driving (you can see in the videos that I generally wear one like a ring). I’ve learned that when I’m driving, it will sometimes give me a “no” or a circle to warn me to slow down, take a different route, or watch out for a dangerous driver nearby. (Maybe I shouldn’t share that… Disclaimer!)
I also take my pendulum shopping with me… It helps me to focus and saves time. I’ll stand at the end of an aisle and ask, “Do I need anything here?” there have also been instances when my Guides have “encouraged” me to make purchases without my understanding why… And a few days later, the need or use for the item arises.
My pendulum work was scattered over the past 12 years, until early 2010, when I began working with it intently and daily.
The learning and technique have (so far) progressed through what I would call 4 phases.
Phase 1 amounts to asking simple yes/no questions, and carefully phrasing the questions in a neutral tone. I hung out in Phase 1 for about 10 years, until a time came when I was desperate for more clear, precise guidance.
Phase 2 (for me) began in 2010. I noticed the pendulum swinging oddly one day, and through asking more yes/no questions, I realized my Guides wanted me to make an alphabet chart.
I created a chart (you can find them on my All About Enlightenment blog site), and sure enough, the pendulum began to swing back and forth to various letters, spelling out words.
It would circle the central dot once between words, and 3 times at the end if a sentence. Talk about laborious! But this way, my Guides were able to change the subject, so to speak, when They wanted to “talk” about something in particular.
Phase 3 started when I realized, during Phase 2 work, that I was anticipating the next letter before the pendulum swung there.
This was the most challenging phase, because I experienced a lot of doubt.
I began to think that I was somehow “making” the pendulum swing to the letter I was “thinking” of. If that was the case, it all seemed so pointless. I actually abandoned practicing for a few days, until I remembered that my Guides and I had a “deal; I had agreed to see this thing through even when I was pissed off.
As Phase 3 progressed, I gradually began to realize that I was developing telepathy by using the pendulum… I was beginning to “know” the intended word.
My guides confirmed this when They started swinging the pendulum to just the FIRST letter of the intended word, and then moving on to the first letter of the next word. It worked like this: the pendulum would swing to a letter… Back and forth between the letter and the center dot of the chart… 3 or 4 times, or more, if I wasn’t “getting” it.
Meanwhile, I was trying to keep my mind relaxed and open, not “thinking”, just trying to be receptive to what word, beginning with that letter, was coming to mind…
Trying not to judge or be rational or argumentative…
When I got the word, the pendulum would circle the center dot, and I would stop and write the word down. As we got faster at this, instead of circling the dot, the pendulum would just move on to the first letter of the next word. When this happened, I would receive 3-4 words, then the pendulum would circle the dot so I could pause and write.
From the time I began working on this in 2010, until the time we were in the latter part of Phase 3, I had spent about 150 hours with pendulum and chart in hand.
Phase 4 offered liberation! I noticed I was starting to “receive” complete sentences. I was told to put the chart down, and just “listen”. Once I thought I had “gotten” a message, I would hold up the pendulum, and if I got a “yes”, I knew I had understood correctly.
As I continued working this way, I became confident enough of my telepathic connection that I found I could put the chart away altogether.
This was when I was given the design for a pendulum with a ring on the end of the chain. I made one, and found that I could wear it on my forefinger as I wrote, or painted or drew, or created videos… All I had to do was hold up my left hand as I worked, and as long as the pendulum swung a “yes”, I knew I was “In The Vortex”!
This is the method I still use most of the time. It’s my favorite way to receive guidance and inspiration when I’m writing or creating artwork.
Lately, it looks like a Phase 5 might be launching; It’s begun just this month. I’m being encouraged more and more to just do the work, trust, keep going, and then check from time to time, or if I feel particularly uncertain.
I’m sort of resistant to this method, but I know my Guides are trying to wean me from the pendulum, so eventually They’ll get Their way… 😉
I “get” that there won’t be pendulums in the 5th… So I feel a huge incentive to stop fighting it.
I’ve realized recently that I rely on/prefer the pendulum for several reasons.
I respond very deeply to tactile and visual stimuli, and the pendulum provides both.
I suspect that the movement of the pendulum also causes some sort of shift in the brain (think: EMDR, hypnosis, etc.), because I’ve come to understand that when I work with it in a focused way, I’m in a light trance.
The other reason, which I find a bit more sobering, is that I’ve also realized that I’ve filled a “people-pleasing” role for most of my life. People-pleasers” tend not to “know” themselves very well. Being an empath reinforces the confusion; much of the time, I feel challenged to discern and filter through all the input that races through my mind.
In these instances, using a pendulum helps me filter out the static and confusion, and focus towards the best answer for the situation at hand. It cuts out the self-talk and helps me get down to business.
So, for now I understand that using the pendulum in this way helps me along my path, and keeps me tangibly connected with some profound Guidance.
I understand that some day I’ll just naturally arrive at a place where I’ll no longer reach for my little “ball and chain”, but for now they provide me with some much-needed ballast!
